Be a Part of It
Be Part of it : These are the cold hard facts about Social Media and the relevence to our society.
Almost everybody that I know has a Facebook profile and they log in almost every single day to commnicate with friends and family. I have re-united with almost every single friend that I have ever had in my life, via Facebook.
No matter where in the world they are, they are but a click away and no matter what I do, whether I post good news or moan about not catching fish, I get tons of responses and feedback.
I am but one of Billions of people worldwide who are all sharing the exact same experience, no matter what social network they belong to, it’s all the same. Connect, Share and Communicate.
I share every single event or occasion with them, I see every photo they upload, I am updated to their present mood or status instantaneously and most times I know what they had for breakfast, or what movie they have just watched.
It does not matter that I have not seen them for 20 years, they are my friends and they are on Facebook. We are as close, if not closer than ever before.
What is especially surprising, is that I now see their moms and dads and even grandparents of Facebook – and spending even more time online than the youngsters.
Yes folks, the 50yr and older is the fastest growing segment of the Facebook and Social Network Community.
But dont trust me on this, do the survey for yourself.
If you are a member of a social network, I will not need to preach to the converted.
1. Google any name that you can imagine, unless the name is of a particulaly famous person, you will find links to Facebook or MySpace or Flickr or Linkdin or one o fthe other 850 Social Networks on the front page of Google. Search for any friend that you have ever had, chances are that you will find them on Facebook.
2. Go to a shopping centre, with a clipboard and approach 20 candidates who match the profile of your target market and ask them if they have a Facebook account or if they use Twitter. I guarantee that you will be running back to the phone to call me to kickstart your Social Media Strategy.
So what? You may ask, how does this effect my brand and more importantly the sales of my brand.
I will sum it us for you in one sentence.
“Managing NetRep and successful online Marketing , is not so much about pushing your brand down the communities eyeballs every day, its 50/50 about countering negative and damaging reports about your brand or company and keeping them off the search engines and out of the ranks of most discussed items on the social media networls.” - Shane Holland
